Travel

To save money on your summer vacation, follow the basic principles of traveling cheaply: Stay close to home, find inexpensive lodging, cook your own meals if possible and seek out destinations with inexpensive entertainment.

It's actually not that tough a bill to fill. We've assembled a slide show of six trips. All of these trips were planned for four days/three nights in mid-June, traveling in a car with a 15-gallon gas tank with regular gas prices at around $4. Subtotals include the cost of getting a solo traveler there and back, and a place to sleep each night. Your food and entertainment budget is up to you.
